This is an older exploration drilling method not commonly used now. Sample quality is less accurate than Aircore because of the single tube used. This ensures sample recovery to the surface has the potential to be contaminated due to the fact that the recovery is outside the drill string and in contact with the wall of the drill hole, as opposed to Aircore drilling which is isolated from the geology of the drill hole.
